Trust + transparency

Editorial standards

Find a Financial Planner exists to help Australians make better-informed choices about financial planners. The trust we ask of readers is the same trust we hold ourselves to. This page explains, in plain terms, how we operate.

1. Editorial independence

Rankings and recommendations are not for sale. Find a Financial Planner does not accept payment from any provider in exchange for inclusion, position, or favourable coverage. Where a piece of content is sponsored or commercial in any way, it is clearly labelled as such above the fold.

2. How we source data

Provider entries draw from public registers (AHPRA, ASIC, MARA, TPB, CEC, FRACS, ACECQA, NDIS Commission, where applicable), published fee schedules, official regulator findings, verified review platforms (Google Business Profile, ProductReview, where appropriate), and direct submissions claimed and verified by the business owner.

Where a number on this site has a citation, you'll see the source linked in plain text on the page. Numbers without a verifiable source are flagged "estimate" or "industry guidance".

3. Conflict of interest policy

  • Editors and writers may not own equity in, or accept gifts from, any provider listed on the site.
  • Where a provider is owned, partly owned, or otherwise materially related to Find a Financial Planner's parent company (Boring Ventures Pty Ltd), that relationship is disclosed in the provider profile.
  • Affiliate relationships (where we earn a referral fee for a click or sign-up) are disclosed inline before any affiliate link is clicked, and never affect ranking position. See our How we make money page for the full list.

4. Fact-checking

Every claim about regulation, fees, qualifications, or measurable outcomes is checked against a primary source. AI-generated drafts are reviewed by a human editor before publication. Claims that cannot be verified are removed, not softened.

We maintain a public record of fact-check decisions on our most-read pages where reader confusion is common. Corrections are issued promptly and publicly.

5. Corrections + complaints

If you believe a piece of information on this site is wrong, email [email protected]. We aim to investigate within three business days and either correct the record (with a visible "Updated on [date]" note) or explain why the information stands.

Providers wishing to dispute their listing should use the same address. Personal-data deletion requests are handled per our Privacy Policy.

6. AI use

We use AI tools to help draft, summarise and structure content. Every piece is reviewed and edited by a human before publication. AI is not used to generate fictitious provider data, fictitious reviews, or fictitious quotations from people who did not say them.

7. Author bylines

Articles carry the byline of a real person. Authors with relevant qualifications (financial advisers, lawyers, healthcare practitioners) have those credentials linked from their author page. See our editorial team.
